HOUSE RULES

These are my basic rules, they help to create a harmonious atmosphere, and most are for health and safety reasons and help the children to learn respect for other people and their property.

·        No shoes on in the house

·        No climbing on the furniture

·        No throwing toys

·        No running in the house

·        Sharing toys/activities with all children

·        No hurting anyone (physically or verbally)

·        Helping to tidy away toys/activities

·        Being polite to everyone

These are more than likely the rules that you work with at home.

BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT

I operate a NO SMACKING POLICY. I encourage good behaviour by praising, giving lots of attention, keeping the children busy and by setting a good example.

I try to distract children away from unwanted behaviour, but when this is not working I will then use “time out” (I will remove the child from the activity, away from the other children to sit quietly for a few minutes).

FOOD AND DRINK

For young babies I ask parents to provide milk and weaning food. Once baby is used to a wide variety of food I will provide healthy meals and snacks.

I promote healthy eating and offer the children a wide range of healthy food.

SICKNESS

If your child becomes unwell, I will contact you as soon as possible, I will keep the child apart from other children to avoid spreading infection while awaiting his/her collection.

I am happy to administer over-the counter medicines (e.g. Calpol), but I will require you to sign a permission form, I will also need you to counter-sign against the entry in my “Medicines Given” book.

I am usually happy to mind your child if they have a minor illness like a cold, however I will not mind a child who has had sickness or diarrhoea in the last 24 hours.
